The Philippines has the skilled workers and supply chain to locally produce aircraft and electric vehicle (EV) mass transport, according to the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).
PEZA said while the Philippines currently has the capability to produce cars and motorcycles from brands like Toyota, Mitsubishi and a host of Japanese, European and American motorcycle brands, it is also now part of a growing supply chain for EV and aircraft parts.
PEZA said these capabilities are demonstrated by current zone locators like Famous Secret which produces automotive and aircraft parts for export; St. Baker Giga Factory which produces EV batteries, and is exploring a partnership with an Australian manufacturer of a pioneering aircraft model powered by EV battery and hydrogen; industry partners Philippine Aerospace Development Corp., which has the design/technology for a trainer aircraft; and Francisco Motors Corp. which plans to mass produce smart electric jeepneys to cater to the modernization of public transportation.
PEZA said Francisco Motors has indicated plans to register the project with the agency.
Meanwhile, PEZA said it will highlight the world class ecozone products/activities of the die and mold industry at the 11th year staging of the Philippine Die & Mold Machineries & Equipment Exhibition (PDMEX) on August 28 to 31 at the World Trade Center.
PEZA aims to integrate more local process subcontractors and micro, small and medium enterprises into the ecozone value chain and scale up the die and mold industry.
The trade fair is organized by the Philippine Die and Mold Association.
Dies and molds are basic materials critical to production-scale manufacturing as well as in fostering innovation particularly in larger industries that rely on plastics and metals as raw materials for the production of finished goods and for various industry applications.
