The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) said on Wednesday four economic zones have been approved for development led by the Aboitiz Group and Megaworld in the first half of 2025.

The projects have a combined cost of P3.22 billion.

In a statement, the PEZA said that since the Marcos administration took office in July 2022, at least 32 ecozones have obtained the required presidential proclamation before PEZA registration, bringing in P13.406 billion in investment commitments.

Of the four newly approved projects, two are focused on expansion of a manufacturing zone in Batangas, and two are new information technology (IT) parks in Tagbilaran City and Bacolod City.

The approved projects are led by  the Batangas-based Lima Technology Center (LTC)  of Aboitiz

InfraCapital, valued at P1.4 billion, PEZA said.

On May 21, the Office of the President issued Proclamation No. 910, designating 23.49 hectares of land located in Barangays Bagong Pook and Luta Sur, Malvar, Batangas to be included in the existing LTC.

The project, which costs P980 million, is expected to be completed by June 2027, PEZA said.

Another expansion of LTC was approved by the Office of the President in March under Proclamation No. 846, adding 19.23 hectares to the ecozone at a cost of P1.02 billion.

An info-tech ecozone of Megaworld Corp. has been approved, PEZA said.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed Proclamation No. 919 on June 2, 2025, creating and designating 33.96 hectares of land in Barangay 41, Bacolod City as an IT Park, to be called The Upper East.

The IT Park, costing  P1.6 billion, is projected to attract more than P1 billion in investments for the construction of two IT buildings, PEZA said.

Five information technology-business process management companies are expected to operate in the park, creating over 2,500 local jobs.

Tagbilaran Uptown IT Hub 2 was registered by the agency on May 8 following Proclamation No. 821, designating three parcels of land in Brgy. Dampas, Tagbilaran City with an area of about 11,237 square meters as an IT Park. The project costs P200 million.

PEZA said the  project expansion aims to generate additional jobs and attract more IT-BPM locators.

A prospective locator has already expressed interest in investing more than P70 million and hiring at least 500 Filipinos, it added.
