MAYNILAD TURNS OVER TENTS, HYGIENE KITS
West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. recently turned over 100 isolation tents and hygiene kits to the University of the Philippines (UP) Alpha Sigma Fraternity Alumni Association, which is setting up a new 100-bed quarantine facility for COVID-19 patients at UP Diliman, Quezon City.
Maynilad’s P1.7- million worth of donations for the quarantine facility in the UP Diliman Gymnasium is in support of the “Act as One Ph” initiative started by the members of the UP Alpha Sigma Fraternity Alumni Association last March 26, 2020, which has already provided assistance to almost 100 hospitals nationwide through donations of PPEs, supplies, medical equipment, and food. Said group has already established five frontliner shelters and quarantine facilities, including this new one in UP Diliman.
CEMEX ASSISTS COMMUNITIES
Cemex Philippines, through the Cemex Philippines Foundation, was one of the companies that extended support to barangays and communities in Rizal and Cebu.
With the assistance of local government units of Antipolo City and City of Naga, Cebu and the provincial governments of Rizal and Cebu, a total of 600 50-kilogram sacks of rice grains, hundreds of canned goods, hand soaps and sanitizing products were distributed to some 30 different barangays.
Nearly 27,500 capsules of Vitamin C and 135 gallons of ethyl alcohol were donated in support of the frontliners in the said localities.
The company also covered truck rentals for the delivery of the relief goods and donations.
In addition, Cemex provided manpower support to ramp up the disinfection efforts of the local governments to help stop the further spread of COVID-19.
SEAOIL EXTENDS FUEL SUBSIDY
Seaoil Philippines has extended its fuel subsidy assistance for buses participating in the Free Ride for Health Workers Program of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) until May 15.
The company has also extended its special fuel discount for all frontliners which can be availed at all open Seaoil outlets.
The discount will continue to be P5 for gasoline and P3 for diesel. Frontliners include medical professionals, uniformed personnel of the AFP, PNP and Coast Guards, and LGU officials, health workers, and quarantine enforcers.
Seaoil Philippines has been providing 50 liters of free fuel to 15 bus units that are participating in the free ride initiative since April 13, 2020. With the extension, the oil company has pledged to provide a total of 24,750 liters of fuel, translating to P742,500.
Bus units in the Free Ride for Health Workers Program can fill up their tanks for free at any Seaoil gas station in Metro Manila.
The DOTr has been transporting health workers to their medical communities since March 18, 2020. As of April 27, 2020, it has now a total ridership of 450,791 — combined figures of ridership in NCR, and other regions covered.
TEST KITS FROM CEBUANA LHUILLIER
Cebuana Lhuillier continues to provide assistance to Filipinos to help ease the burden caused by the pandemic.
The company is set to donate and distribute 20,000 rapid antibody test kits and personal protective equipment to local government units and healthcare facilities.
The company has partnered with ABS-CBN’s Pantawid ng Pag-Ibig and GMA Kapuso Foundation’s Operation Bayanihan: Labanan Ang COVID-19, waiving any remittance fees for those who want to donate to the networks’ relief operations through Cebuana Lhuillier outlets.
Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation Inc. (CLFI) has contributed P2 million to the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation’s Project Ugnayan which has been giving out gift certificates for essential food items.
CLFI has also donated P500,000 to ABS-CBN’s Pantawid ng Pag-Ibig program while P1.5 million is earmarked for the purchase of relief goods for families affected by community quarantine measures.
As an essential provider of financial services, Cebuana Lhuillier outlets have also remained open in various parts of the country, observing social distancing and disinfection measures.
CLARK DONATIONS DRIVE
Clark Development Corp. (CDC) in partnership with the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor), Widus Foundation Inc. (WFI), and Clark CSR Association Inc. (CCAI) recently donated packs and boxes of relief goods to various communities near this Freeport.
In a simple turnover ceremony at the Clark Skills and Training Center, local government executives under the Metro Clark Advisory Council (MCAC) received various canned goods, rice, noodles and other food items. MCAC includes Mabalacat City, Angeles City, Municipalities of Porac, Pampanga; Capas, and Bamban, Tarlac.
The donations were prepared by employees of CDC – Corporate Social Responsibility and Placement Division CDC- Estate Preservation and Recovery Division and volunteers from the Philippine Air Force
EDC ONSITE HOUSING
The Energy Development Corp. (EDC) has provided comfortable sleeping quarters and WiFi access to its workers in the company’s temporary housing quarters in its facilities to ensure their safety while keeping operations uninterrupted.
The company has also been providing work-related and financial provision and emotional support to its employees amid the national lockdown. It is likewise finding ways to continuously compensate its project workers such as drivers, pantry and office maintenance, security, and others who have been affected by the company’s shift to non-office operations.
In turn, numerous employees have been paying it forward either through the company’s fundraising activities for frontliners and daily contractors like drivers, office cleaners and security guards or through their personal efforts in their respective communities. EDC employee donations to ABS-CBN’s Pantawid ng Pag-ibig have already reached over P1.9 million to date.
EDC is also involved in raising P100 million for quarantine facilities for returning seafarers and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) inside Pier 15 at the Manila South Harbor, as well as a joint project with Narvacan, Ilocos Sur Mayor Luis “Chavit” Singson and The Medical City that provided temporary shelter at the Metrotent Convention Center for employees of the hospital.
EDC has provided a total of P12 million worth of assistance to its partner local government units (LGUs) and communities, which included the lending of 20- to 40-foot container vans that public hospitals are now using either as quarantine facilities for COVID-19 patients or as sleeping quarters for its medical frontliners. The company has also donated sacks of rice good for 14,000 households and provided masks, thermal scanners, personal protective equipment and other items to medical frontliners and those who are manning checking points in its areas of operation.
