P&G PH medical grade face masks to help DOH in protecting public health, frontliners
Procter & Gamble (P&G) Philippines has repurposed its manufacturing operations to produce medical grade face masks and pledged 1 million of them to the Department of Health (DOH) to help in the nation’s battle against COVID-19.
P&G recently launched its support for the DOH’s BIDA Solusyon sa COVID-19 and prior to this, hosted the DOH and the Department of Trade and Industry at its Cabuyao plant to turn over the locally produced face masks and show the production line operations.
P&G first announced the repurposing in April, shortly after the government imposed the enhanced community quarantine over the main island of Luzon.
P&G has been guided by three core principles. First, protecting the health and well-being of its employees. Second, serving the needs of consumers, who rely on P&G’s trusted brands for cleaning, health and hygiene. And third, supporting frontline workers and communities amid the pandemic and quarantine.
RB sustains COVID-19 fight with P15.8M donation
Reckitt Benckiser Healthcare Philippines is donating over P15.8 million to various hospitals, cause-oriented organizations, and low-income communities, to further halt the spread of the novel coronavirus and lessen its impact among the healthcare workers and vulnerable groups.
The donation will go towards providing emergency quarantine facilities, thousands of meals, mobile thermometer disinfection channels, and personal protective equipment.
Most of the donations have been earmarked from the global RB Fight for Access Fund which aims to make access to the highest quality hygiene, wellness, and nourishment a right and not a privilege.
The goal of RB Healthcare Philippines’ latest endeavor is aligned with its Disinfect to Protect mission to ensure everybody is protected from illnesses by breaking the chain of COVID-19 infection.
Of the amount, P1.7 million will be coursed through the Bagong Henerasyon Foundation, Inc. for the construction of three emergency quarantine facilities, two in Barangay Sucat, Muntinlupa City and one in Taguig-Pateros District Hospital, to decongest these medical facilities of possible COVID-19 patients.
The company will also provide the Kabisig ng Kalahi Foundation with P7.97 million for the provision of weekly meals for 1,500 households–30 of the poorest families in each of the 50 Metro Manila barangays with the highest rate of COVID-19 infections.
About P5.1 million of the donations, also coursed through the Foundation, will be for the procurement of six mobile thermometer disinfection channels which will be used to sanitize Veterans Memorial Medical Center, Philippine Orthopedic Center, Quezon City General Hospital, Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital, PNP General Hospital and AFP General Hospital. Part of the donation will also be used to purchase consumables and shoulder maintenance costs.
RB Healthcare Philippines will also turn over P1.14 million worth of personal protective equipment to the Ospital ng Makati, Ospital ng Tondo and Philippine Heart Center to help its medical frontliners.
Union Bank, City Savings back online capability-building for teachers
Union Bank of the Philippines and its thrift subsidiary City Savings Bank are pitching their support to a program that pursues to build the capability of educators to teach online.
UnionBank, through its Xcellerator Program, and CitySavings donated P660,000 and P330,000, respectively, for the Help Educators Rise to Online Education for SY 2020-2021 or HEROES 2021 project of Thames International School.
A pioneer in online education since 2018, Thames is now sharing its expertise via HEROES 2021 – an intensive nationwide program that aims to train over 800,000 Department of Education (DepEd) teachers on effective online teaching. Thames is embarking on this endeavor together with its learning partners Edurescue (Philippines) and AKADASIA (Singapore).
With the shift to digital and contactless models, educational institutions need to propel the skills of educators to provide effective digital learning due to the pandemic.
Through its corporate social responsibility program, UnionBank will support the education drive, which aligns with its PeopleTech initiative to build the skills and capabilities of the future.
City Savings Bank, on the other hand, continues to strengthen its partnership engagement with DepEd by supporting its Learning Continuity Plan (LCP). The LCP aims to ensure student’s learning progresses in this new normal outside the classroom walls.
Under HEROES 2021, the DepEd teachers will be given access to learning programs on emerging technologies, to keep up with the changing education landscape.
SIF launches The Pivot Project
SIF, the country’s first super app services and curated products aggregator, has opened its platform to create revenue opportunities for displaced Filipino workers and entrepreneurs in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Under the Pivot Project, SIF has devised a plan to provide start-ups, new freelancers and even established consultants access to the SIF platform that would offer strong community access to consumers who have preferred to stay home. It also saw the benefit it could lend these entrepreneurs through the app’s push marketing, cashless transactions and delivery network making it easier for new businesses to flourish.
Delta cited for pandemic response
Delta has earned the top spot among domestic carriers in the TPG 2020 Best Airlines Report which ranked airlines based on how they have been supporting customers since the onset of the COVID-19 crisis.
The Points Guy, a leading digital outlet focused on travel, stated that “Delta again comes out on top” across categories that included ticket flexibility, cleanliness and overall passenger safety.
Delta earned a perfect score of 20/20 on clean inside the cabin and recognized for its flexibility and giving generous perks to passengers and for safety, landing on top when it comes to keeping customers and employees safe .
This is the second consecutive year Delta ranked number one in TPG 2019 Best Airlines Report based on more traditional measures of airline performance including on-time records, baggage handling, customer service, family-friendly policies and various factors in frequent flyer benefits and premium services.
Free water from Maynilad
West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. will be providing free water supply to the new mega-quarantine facility that will rise in Bagong Nayong Pilipino, Parañaque City.
The facility, which can accommodate more than 500 mild and asymptomatic COVID-19 patients, will be the fifth quarantine facility to receive free water from Maynilad up to October 2020, besides the ones in the World Trade Center, Philippine International Convention Center, Cultural Center of the Philippines Sunken Parking, and Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Pasay City that have a combined 1,000-patient capacity.
Maynilad is also providing free water to the Department of Health’s mega-swabbing centers at Palacio de Maynila in Manila, and at SM MOA Arena in Pasay City. The company also recently built a P15-million RT-PCR Testing Center in partnership with De Los Santos Medical Center, and donated P1.7 million for the set-up of a quarantine center in UP Diliman, Quezon City.
