Pampanga-based Real Steel Corp. (RSC) will build what would be the Philippines’ first high-speed rolling mill, one of the fastest in Asia.
This would also make RSC one of the biggest steel producers in the country.
In a statement, RSC said it recently signed a contract with Italian steel equipment manufacturer and designer Danieli Group to build a plant that would produce high-quality steel rebars using fully automated and environmentally sound technology.
Federico Rocchetti, Danieli vice president, said the steel plant will follow the global trend of producing green steel by using induction heating system to eliminate pollution caused by using natural gas or oil in heating steel.
Alessandro Menocci, Danieli chief executive officer, said many of the solutions the company implements are included in the new high-speed rolling mill, particularly ly features in technology that improve environmental impact and safety.
William Chen, RSC chief finance officer, said the new facility will be operational in 2022
“RSC will continue to strive for excellence in technological advancement and modernization to improve quality of our products using clean and energy efficient equipment,” said Chen.
RSC was formed in 2006 as Grande Steel Corp. initially as a trader.
By 2008, Grande Steel set up a steel pipe manufacturing line producing galvanized steel pipe and black steel pipe. Subsequently, it added production lines for making square tubes and expanded its production to manufacturing steel purlin as well.
In 2011, Grande Steel started building another plant in San Simon, Pampanga for manufacturing steel re-bars. This plant had the capability for melting steel from scrap, then feeding them straight into casting machines, and to the rolling mill producing steel deformed bars.
The plant was completed in 2012, and was fully operational by the beginning of 2013.
Grande Steel’s pipe and purlin production plant in Valenzuela was then relocated to its r new plant which transformed into RSC.
Danieli is a global designer, manufacturer, and installer of metal production plants and equipment. It has presence in Italy, Germany, Sweden, Austria, France, The Netherlands, Spain, UK, USA, Brazil, Russia, Thailand, Vietnam, China, India, and Japan.
