P495M new SCTEX interchange to rise in Hermosa, Bataan

The Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) will soon have a new road interchange to connect the municipality of Hermosa in Bataan to the 94-kilometer SCTEX, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) said.

In a statement on Monday, BCDA said the project will cost P495 million and will form part of the government’s long-term development strategy to enhance regional connectivity along the expressway.

The new road interchange is a joint collaboration between the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), BCDA, NLEX Corp. and the local government of Hermosa.

The  proposed interchange will create a critical link between Bataan’s emerging economic zones and industrial estates to other growth corridors in Central Luzon, such as the Clark Freeport Zone, New Clark City, and the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, BCDA said.

It will also improve access to the BCDA-administered Bataan Technology Park in Morong, the future home of the Philippine Marine Corps.

BCDA added that the project will contribute to the government’s efforts to support connectivity along the Luzon Economic Corridor to help position the region as a strategic hub for the manufacturing and electronics sectors.

BCDA did not provide the timeline for the construction of the new interchange.

SCTEX currently has 11 interchanges or exits connecting Pampanga, Zambales, Bataan all the way to Tarlac.  It currently has one exit to Bataan, which is in Dinalupihan town.
