A P3-billion port and industrial complex  is being built on a  seven-hectare property in Lemery, Batangas.

Ferdinand Co, president of Sinisian Lemery Port, in a statement said the project has three components:  the Sinisian Lemery Batangas Port & Industrial Park, the Lemery Cement Silo Tank, and Lemery Oil Terminal.

Each component costs P1 billion.

Co said the port has a draft depth of 15 meters and can handle PANAMAX size oil tankers and cargo ships while the cement silo can accommodate 60,000 metric tons of bulk cement and slag.

The oil terminal  has a storage capacity of over 170 million liters.

Co said the Lemery Oil Terminal has one tenant,  Unioil Petroleum Inc.,  importer and distributor of fuel.

Lemery Oil Terminal is expected to start full commercial operation by January next year,” said Co.

Once the project starts operation, he expects to generate at least 200 direct new jobs initially.

Co, whose family business is  cement and construction supply trading, said  the expansion into industrial storage facility will help address the global supply chain disruption that started during the pandemic and lingered due to the  ongoing geopolitical tensions.

“We should be ready to provide enough and high quality cement and slag supply to the Calabarzon area. Our cement silo facility should help ensure availability of a major construction material,” Co said.

He added the oil terminal will boost fuel inventory that will support the increase in demand in he National Capital Region, Calabarzon and Southern Luzon.
