P36M cash from telco customers, new facilities, electricity cost

EEI Corp. continues to build more COVID-19 centers as its contribution to combating the coronavirus.

In partnership with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Filinvest Development Corp., EEI has started working on the conversion of the Filinvest Tent in Muntinlupa into a 108-bed quarantine facility.

EEI is also putting up panelized temporary structures at the Marikina Hospital.

The Yuchengco-led construction firm earlier helped in the conversion of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Forum Halls and Rizal Memorial Coliseum (RMC) into COVID-19 treatment and monitoring facilities.

The construction firm made available 64 modules to hospitals across Luzon designed to accommodate frontliners or patients.

These were distributed to eight hospitals identified to be in most need of the modules which are San Juan City Medical Center; Mandaluyong City Medical Center; Lung Center of the Philippines; Philippine General Hospital; Quezon Institute; Antipolo City Hospital System; The Medical City South Luzon; and the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (Ilocos Norte).

P64M raised

AC Energy has raised over P64 million for electricity, health and food relief, medical supplies, cash donation and employee wages and emergency funds amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

AC Energy has committed to cover 50 percent of electricity cost and has donated critical supplies such as bed frames, mattresses, pillows and other furnishings to the World Trade Center in Pasay City and other centers that were recently converted into a designated quarantine facilities.

The company also partnered with the La Salle group in launching the Safe Shelter project and opened their doors to provide a temporary home for COVID-19 frontliners apart from shouldering the electricity cost of designated facilities in La Salle Greenhills and DLSU-College of St. Benilde in Manila as well as providing needed supplies such as matteresses, pillows and other essentials.

For its host communities and their frontliners, AC Energy, through its subsidiaries including, North Luzon Renewables, NorthWind, CIP II Power Corp and Bulacan Power, has mobilized local teams to donate cash and medical supplies like face masks, alcohol, and 3D filaments, as well as food supplies like local produce, canned goods and food packs.

The company has donated over 2,000 sacks of rice as aid to the locals of Norzagaray, Bulacan, Bacnotan, La Union, and Bangui and Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte.

Globe customers raise over P36M cash donations for hospitals nationwide  

A record P36M in cash donations for the benefit of health workers and frontliners in 11 medical institutions nationwide was successfully raised by 491,821 loyal Globe customers through their Globe Rewards Points.

As of April 21, funds raised were used to procure 8,100 bouffant caps, 26,057 surgical gowns and coverall suits, 20,400 surgical and N95 masks, 1,000 liters of disinfectants, 4,600 goggles, 4,100 gloves and aprons, 300 rapid test kits, 500 face shields, 50 full-face respirators, 10 thermoscanners, and 1 point of care echocardiography and ultrasonography device. The remaining amount is still being used by the respective hospitals to purchase other needed medical supplies.

From the raised funds, P10 million was given to Philippine General Hospital Medical Foundation, Inc. (PGH MFI). The company also turned over an initial pledge of P5 million in cash donation, and 50 mobile phones preloaded with unlimited calls and texts to all networks valid for 45 days to serve the communication needs of healthcare workers and frontliners at PGH.

Another P10 million in cash donation was turned over to the Lung Center of the Philippines. Meanwhile, Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM), San Lazaro Hospital, Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital and Sanitarium, and East Avenue Medical Center received P2 million each. The balance P8,452,094 was donated to Philippine Heart Center, Northern Mindanao Medical Center, Quezon Institute, Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center, and Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center.

Globe has extended the validity of Rewards points earned in 2019 from March 31 to June 30 to help customers donate and enjoy using their points while staying connected and #SafeAtHome. The telco has also extended the bill payment due dates for its mobile and broadband postpaid customers, including business and enterprise clients nationwide, to May 15. This in effect, gives customers up to 60 days of bills payment extension equivalent to two months of unpaid bills.

Support to driver-partners

Grab Philippines has actively rolled-out GrabBayanihan – a COVID-19 response program that includes several initiatives to protect and support its driver-partners impacted by the pandemic.

These initiatives involve the introduction and implementation of health and safety policies on the Grab platform, as well as protecting the livelihoods of its driver-partners, and extending partner support assistance in the form of goods and support funds.

Grab has likewise distributed over 30,000 face masks and 2,000 bottles of alcohol. Through these sanitary essentials, Grab has been able to equip its driver-partners to safely fulfill delivery services for consumers staying at home during the enhanced community quarantine.

Grab has offered virtual training to its GrabCar driver-partners, quickly onboarding them as GrabFood, Grab Express, and GrabMart delivery-partners.

To date, almost 4,000 driver-partners have temporarily transitioned to Grab’s delivery fleet allowing them to have an alternative source of income.

Grab, together with its employees, communities, and corporate partners has also raised more than P20 million worth of relief items which includes grocery vouchers, rice, canned goods, medicine and drinks and will benefit around 65,000 affected partners.

Targetted support

Deloitte has committed more than $12.5 million in investments in the form of direct monetary donations, medical equipment, and pro bono project work in efforts to combat the new coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. These efforts are targeted to helping frontline health care workers, supporting the millions of students globally who are out of school, and providing communities in need with donations and volunteers.

Deloitte Philippines Outreach Inc, donated $1,966 to two COVID-19 referral hospitals that are facing a shortage of personal protective equipment for their health care workers. Also, a donation drive called the Pakig-ambit Movement was organised in Cebu to provide urgent medical necessities and healthy food items to frontline professionals and people in vulnerable communities. Funds raised went towards manufacturing face shields and protective suits for COVID-19 hospitals in Metro Manila and Cebu, and distributing food packs to Calabanga municipality and Sitio San Roque, communities mostly populated by low-wage workers.
