Rice farmers in Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon are among the first ones who stand to benefit from the P20 per kilogram rice sale program of the government extended to farmers starting next month, the Department of Agriculture (DA) said on Wednesday.
The DA said in a statement that starting Aug. 13, 2025, farmers listed under the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) will initially be eligible to purchase up to 10 kg of the P20/kg rice per month.
The DA did not specify how many rice farmers in the two regions are registered under the RSBSA, but said that overall, there are about 2.9 million registered rice farmers nationwide.
