Only 5,000 subscribers availed of the mobile number portability (MNP) service nationwide in the first three months of operation, according to The Telecommunications Connectivity Inc. (TCI).
The MNP which allows mobile subscriber to switch to other network without changing their mobile number was launched in end of September this year.
The number is still significantly small compared to the over 155 million mobile subscribers of the three telco players.

Melanie Manuel, TCI general manager, said the company continues to educate the public about the benefits of MNP.
Manuel also assured systems are in place in case TCI gets a huge number of porting requests in the future, adding initial bottlenecks have addressed.
