NOW Corp. has entered into a multi-year agreement with Aboitiz-led UnionBank of the Philippines as its first enterprise client for gigabit broadband services in Metro Manila.
NOW said the agreement has a provision of guaranteed broadband internet access in support of the bank’s digital transformation roadmap.
The company first activated UnionBank’s corporate headquarters in Ortigas Center, Pasig City with 1 gigabits-per-second (Gbps) broadband connectivity via fixed wireless.
Both parties also agreed to explore the use of NOW Fiber Air for the bank’s branches and for other sites owned and operated by the Aboitiz-led bank.
The agreement with Unionbank strengthens NOW’s position to provide guaranteed broadband connectivity for enterprises via its fixed wireless network infrastructure that it has established in Metro Manila.
NOW pioneered Fiber Air and has since become the largest fixed wireless access (FWA) broadband provider in the country.
The rollout of its gigabit broadband plans will be available in Metro Manila, mainly for enterprise clients. This is made possible through NOW’s FWA network infrastructure that it has established by using high-capacity and proprietary radio antennas exclusive to NOW’s access to frequencies.
“We are now offering gigabit plans of guaranteed broadband internet to our subscribers.
Our technology allows for it. And we will push the envelope with our high capacity fixed wireless solution” said Kristian Pura, NOW head of Strategy.
“This applies to prospective enterprise and retail subscribers,” Pura added.
NOW Corp. through its subsidiary NOW Telecom allows efficient delivery of high capacity, gigabit bandwidth internet access, both scalable and easily repeatable nationwide.
NOW’s service positioning is its guaranteed broadband internet where advertised speeds are committed speeds to subscribers.
The company upgraded and quadrupled its capacity to 2.40Gbps in 2018, with technological costs lowering, and bandwidth capacity solutions increasing. It has connected more than 400 buildings with service coverage of up to two kilometers per building.
NOW Telecom, a grantee of a 25-year congressional franchise by the 17th Congress, is likewise a holder of authority from National Telecommunication Commission to establish and operate a nationwide cellular mobile telephony system.
