No flip-flopping under Leni

Vice President Leni Robredo yesterday gave a glimpse of her economic platform anchored on level playing field and policy stability.

“Our government, aside from improving ease of doing business,will not change the rules in the middle of the game. We will make sure that everyone is given a level playing field,” Robredo said in her keynote address at the opening yesterday of the Philippine Business Conference (PBC). She will join other presidential hopefuls in a separate panel at the PBC today.

“We need to rebuild trust in government by making sure that policies are dependable and predictable.”

Robredo also touched on other matters to business: power, infrastructure and logistics.

“We need to prioritize lowering of power rates and other utility costs and prioritize mass transport. Foreign and domestic investments will only dramatically rise if we have the necessary infrastructure and logistics for them to thrive,” Robredo said.

The vice president reiterated her proposal to create a stimulus package for micro, small and medium enterprises hinged on the condition that they do not lay off workers as part of job preservation as well her plan to double funding for agriculture from 1.7 percent of the national budget today to 3.4 percent by 2028.
