NLEX Corp. expects a surge in traffic volume at the North Luzon expressway (NLEX) and Subic-Clark-Tarlac expressway (SCTEX) during the holiday season.

“This holiday season, we expect 10 to 12 percent increase on the last working day before Christmas and on Dec. 26 and 27,” said J. Luigi Bautista, NLEX president and general manager.

As of last month, the NLEX-SCTEX traffic volume stood at 288,000, down by 25 to 30 percent from last year due to the community quarantine.

The company activates the seasonal “Safe Trip Mo Sagot Ko” motorist assistance program for the expected surge in traffic volume during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

From Dec. 18, 2020 to Jan. 4, 2021, NLEX said it will beef up its operations to further provide convenient and safe travel to motorists. Traffic monitoring teams will closely monitor high volume toll plazas such as Balintawak, Mindanao, Karuhatan, Bocaue, San Fernando, Clark South, Tarlac and Tipo.
