Dreams of becoming entrepreneurs are still on the minds of many Filipinos as shown by the high awareness rating of the entrepreneurship non-profit organization (NGO) Go Negosyo.
This is the highlight of of the Tugon ng Masa survey in the third quarter of 2023 conducted by OCTA Research from September 30 to October 4
The face-to-face survey covered 1,200 adult respondents nationwide. It was not commissioned by Go Negosyo.
OCTA found that more than half of Filipinos nationwide are aware of Go Negosyo.
Overall, 66 percent of respondents nationwide have heard of Go Negosyo.
The highest awareness rating, 81 percent, is among respondents in the National Capital Region (NCR), followed by Mindanao (67 percent), Visayas (63 percent) and Luzon (53 percent).
Go Negosyo was almost equally distributed among socio-economic classes: 56 percent for Class ABC, 58 percent for Class D, and 62 percent for Class E.
“Go Negosyo’s advocacy seems to be similar to that of most Filipinos,” said Prof. Ranjit Rye who shared the results of the survey.
Rye noted a 50 percent awareness rating for an organization is considered high.
“Most people are not aware of NGOs or what they do,” he said. “To be known nationally for an advocacy, that is already a success. And when you breach 50 percent (awareness rating), that’s already an accomplishment.”
Businessman Joey Concepcion, who founded Go Negosyo in 2005, said the high awareness will help increase the knowledge of entrepreneurship through free public mentoring mall roadshows and programs with the Department of Trade and Industry, the Department of Education, and the Department of Agriculture.
Go Negosyo is also working with the county’s largest corporations to involve private sector in helping the country’s micro, small and medium enterprises.
