The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said its wheeling rates for the November billing period that will be billed to customers for December has decreased by 0.9 percent.

NGCP said in a briefing on Thursday transmission wheeling rates or what the company charges for its primary service of delivering power, have gone down from P0.5005 per kilowatt hour (kWh) in October to P0.4957 per kWh in November.

Ancillary service (AS) rates for the November billing period went down by 12.8 percent with P0.5699 per kWh compared to P0.6539 per kWh in October 2024.

AS is the available generating capacity for dispatch to meet contingency reserve requirements when a power generating unit trips or a transmission interconnection problem occurs.

NGCP said in compliance with directives from the Department of Energy and the Energy Regulatory Commission, it contracts 50 percent of its AS requirement from firm agreements and 50 percent from the AS Reserves Market. The AS cost is a pass-through cost paid to generating companies.
