The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has committed to develop New Clark City as an industrial hub, according to the masterplan which was crafted jointly with Surbana Jurong of Singapore.

Joshua Bingcang, BCDA president and chief executive officer, made this pronouncement after  President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in a bilateral meeting with Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong last week highlighted New Clark City as a viable destination for Singaporean investors.

BCDA said  Marcos also told Wong the Philippine government was eyeing to develop New Clark City as an industrial center in which Singaporean investors could participate.

Aside from Surbana Jurong,  Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corporation for Transport and Urban Development, AECOM, Nippon Koei, and Philkoei International also helped craft the masterplan.

Bingcang said the masterplan envisions New Clark City as  the country’s green, resilient, inclusive, and smart metropolis.

“We want to position New Clark City as an investment haven and tourist destination,” Bingcang said.

New Clark City is a 9,450-hectare greenfield development inside the Clark Special Economic Zone aimed at helping  decongest Metro Manila.
