Some 429 cities and municipalities previously affected with African swine fever (ASF) have not recorded new cases for at least 90 days.
In Memorandum Circular No. 15 Series of 2021, the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) said there are 32 cities and municipalities that did not report new ASF cases for 90 to 119 days.
Twelve of them are in Bicol; seven in Cagayan; five in Davao; three in Eastern Visayas; two in Calabarzon; and one each in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Central Luzon and Caraga.
Areas that did not experience new ASF cases for 120 to 149 days hit 40.
Sixteen of them are in Bicol; nine each are in Calabarzon and Davao; three in Central Luzon; two in Cagayan; and one in CAR.
As for those that did not report new cases of the hog pandemic for 150 to 180 days, 21 cities and municipalities are recorded.
Seven each are from Cagayan and Bicol; four are in Davao; and the remaining three are in Calabarzon.
BAI’s report showed 336 towns and municipalities have not detected new cases of ASF for more than 180 days.
Central Luzon led with 110 as Calabarzon followed with 72. Other regions include Ilocos with 52; Cagayan with 45; Bicol with 20; CAR with 19; Davao with 11; Soccsksargen with six; and Caraga with one.
