THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) yesterday advised motorists to brace for heavy traffic this weekend due to the closure of nine Metro Manila roads for repair and re-blocking projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
In an advisory, the MMDA said the road closures will be from 11 p.m. of Friday until 5 a.m. of Monday, November 18.
Affected areas are the following: EDSA southbound at Fernando Poe Jr. (FPJ) Avenue to Lanutan (3rd lane from center) in Quezon City; EDSA southbound after West Avenue to after MRT North Avenue Station (1st lane from center), Quezon City; EDSA southbound Bansalangin Street to West Avenue (3rd lane from center), Quezon City; Commonwealth Avenue southbound Don Jose to Odigal (2nd lane from center), Quezon City; Bonifacio Monumento Circle corner Rizal Avenue Extension (inner lane), Caloocan City; San Miguel eastbound between A. Mabini Street to Delos Reyes Street (1st lane from sidewalk), Caloocan City; along C-5 Katipunan Avenue southbound, Quezon City; University Avenue in Quezon City; and EDSA southbound between Zamora Street and Taft Avenue in Pasay City.
“The affected roads will be fully passable by 5 a.m. on Monday,” MMDA chairperson Romando Artes said as he urged motorists to take alternative routes.
The MMDA likewise advised motorists and the public to expect heavy traffic along Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago Avenue (formerly Agham Road) in Diliman, Quezon City today due to conduct of the National Competitive Examination, which will be held at the Philippine Science High School main campus.
