MMDA enforcers get free insurance

The Philippine Insurers and Reinsurers Association Inc. (PIRA) and the Philippine Insurers Club (PIC) have signed a memorandum of agreement with the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) for the free insurance coverage of MMDA enforcers.

Under the agreement signed during the opening ceremony of the Insurance Consciousness Week last week, PIC and PIRA will provide an accidental death and disablement insurance for and in behalf of all MMDA enforcers.

The Insurance Commission (IC) said in a statement yesterday the benefits under the MMDA insurance coverage are: P10,000 for accidental death and benefits, P5,000 for unprovoked murder and assault, P1,000 for accidental medical reimbursement, P1,000 for accidental burial benefit, and P10,000 motorcycling cover.

The group policy under this program shall be issued by Fortune General Insurance Corp. Inc.

“We thank the non-life insurance sector for spearheading this program which aims to provide free accidental death and disablement coverage for our MMDA enforcers,” Dennis Funa, insurance commissioner, said in the statement.
