Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) said at least 3,600 megawatts (MW) of power from nine generating companies will participate in its competitive selection process (CSP) for the supply of 1,800 MW of electricity for 2024 to 2025.
“We are not at liberty to disclose the names of companies which expressed interest but it’s a total of 3,600 MW.
They have different bids for capacity, some of them offered at 600 MW and some of them applied for the minimum of 150 MW,” said Jose Ronald Valles, head of Meralco’s regulatory management.
Deadline for submission of expression for interest in the CSP will be next month while a pre-bid conference will be conducted by December. Evaluation and opening of bids will be by February as the filing of approval to the Energy Regulatory Commission will be by March.
Ray Espinosa, Meralco president and chief executive officer, said previous biddings have resulted in as much as P18.26 billion savings through rate reductions. – J. Macapagal
