Roche global CEO visits PH
A forum participated by legislators and healthcare ecosystem partners and stakeholders on Monday highlighted the shared vision of delivering access to innovative diagnosis and treatment whether they are city executives or farmers in provinces.
Healthcare Innovation Access Forum: Bringing Groundbreaking Advances Within Reach at The Manila Hotel was initiated by Roche (Philippines) Inc. as part of the two-day visit of Roche Pharmaceuticals Inc. global chief executive officer William Anderson.
In his talk, Anderson pointed out the passing of Universal Healthcare Law, the National Integrated Cancer Control Act and recently, the guidelines for Reliance Pathway, will provide for early access and financial support to patients to avail of innovative care.
He assured Roche is committed to helping improve access to healthcare innovations through various initiatives like Mission Leapfrog, Project Extension for Community Health Outcomes, Roche Access Program , Project BrIDGE or Breast cancer Integrated Disease solutions in a Guideline-driven Ecosystem, Integrated CAre Network for Lung Cancer.
Potato Corner expands
Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures Inc. said it is accelerating the expansion of its Potato Corner business, doubling the brand’s presence in three to four years from the previous plan of five to seven years.
The company earlier this year said it is putting up 150 Potato Corner stores this year to complement the over 1,000 existing stores when Shakey’s acquired the business.
The acceleration is in response to demand for the business among entrepreneurs since the company acquired the business early this year.
Christopher Po, Shakey’s chairman, said the brand has a lot of room for growth amid expanding retail spaces, particularly in the Visayas and Mindanao.
Edtech learning tools
Quipper, a Japanese education technology (edtech) company, is providing a user-friendly learning management system (LMS) with extensive content that helps bridge the gap from traditional learning to the HyFlex model, a term coined from the words “hybrid” and “flexible” combining various teaching modalities.
Yusuke Takagi, CEO of Quipper Philippines, said through the LMS platform educators can manage multiple classes through the customized dashboard, send and schedule assignments, and assess their students’ performances. Students can access their Quipper accounts and parents can supervise and assist their child’s learning progress
The edtech company also offers Quipper School Premium and Quipper Video and startingJune, a new content offering with its K to 3 Content Package and Senior High School Specialized Subjects.
Job fair
With the recent success of its week-long Virtual Career Fair in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), JobStreet recorded a 387 percent increase in job applications from June 13 to 17.
Over 58,000 job applications were sent by nearly 89,000 participants during the said fair resulting in more than 420,000 platform visits the entire week.
The Virtual Career Fair offered thousands of opportunities nationwide with varying employment types and setups, such as work from home, hybrid, and entry-level jobs, and applicants were able to stream quality career webinars hosted by online learning platform LUNA Academy. The event culminated with a Facebook Live raffle event among registered jobseekers.
AEB expands in PH
Germany-based logistics software specialist AEB is building a new team to handle local operations and is introducing new enhancements to its warehouse management system (WMS).
AEB’s Philippine team will oversee and manage the company’s project management and sales and will be led by Frans Kok, the Asia Pacific general manager of AEB.
Brandon Boen will be the lead project manager for all of AEB’s WMS project implementation while Jennifer Laddaran will be AEB PH’s business development manager,
The latest features in AEB Cold Chain Warehouse Management include blast freezer or bundle receiving, returnable packaging management and product recall functionality management.
AEB has also integrated a ready-to-integrate business intelligence tool that can be deployed in a short amount of time and can be used with Cold Chain Warehouse Management.
BPI Foundation aids Siargao’s recovery
BPI Foundation in partnership with Bayan Academy, recently provided livelihood training and employment opportunities to 50 unemployed and underemployed individuals in Siargao through its BPI Technical-Vocational Training (Tech-Voc) program.
Of the 50 BPI Tech-Voc scholars who graduated on July 1, 25 completed the training course on Housekeeping, and 25 completed Security Services. They received a National Certificate II from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority which will open more employment opportunities for them locally and abroad. These individuals are from General Luna and Dapa.
BPI Tech-Voc is a program under BPI Foundation’s Enterprise Development and Livelihood initiative and Financial Wellness advocacy.
BPI Foundation’s main implementing partner, Bayan Academy, will also link the BPI Tech-Voc scholars to potential employers through its “One Plan for Labor Alignment and Networking” initiative.

Snacks company Mondelēz International in the Philippines celebrated Pride Month through a discussion to help inform other companies on how to strengthen their diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in their own workplaces.
Among the company’s DEI practices are providing gender-neutral and inclusive policies and benefits, providing organizational support through guidance of senior leaders, enabling self-identification particularly on the use of pronouns and names, education and networking opportunities, and social responsibility and thought leadership on inclusion and diversity.
The Philippines is the first country in the Southeast Asia business unit of the company to have a workplace policy that outlines three basic gender rights (1) The right to a preferred name (2) The right to dress to reflect identity and (3) The right to safe spaces. It also has gender-neutral parental leaves, regardless of birth method (biological or adoption).
Mondelēz International also partnered with the organization UP Babaylan of the University of the Philippines in Diliman to paint a pedestrian crosswalk in rainbow colors.
