Isuzu PH ‘Kasama Mo’ 2nd round of donations to partner institutions

Isuzu Philippines Corporation donated on October 1 sets of personal protective equipment (PPE) to its partner institutions Caritas Manila, Philippine Coast Guard, and Philippine Red Cross. This activity represents IPC’s second round of donations under its “Kasama Mo” campaign launched last June 1, with aims to provide aid to partner institutions.

The “Kasama Mo” campaign has been IPC’s continuing response to the global pandemic. Faithful to IPC’s value of being “Your Responsible Partner”, the “Kasama Mo” campaign actively promotes the importance of sharing and caring and gives an opportunity for Isuzu customers and stakeholders to support frontliners with every Isuzu vehicle produced and bought. The PPE sets are utilized by the partners’ brave and devoted frontliners who continue to risk their lives for their fellow citizens.

For the October 1 activity, a total of 296 sets were donated to Philippine Red Cross, Caritas Manila (294 sets), and the Philippine Coast Guard (147 sets). Representatives of IPC held simple turnover rites at the partner institutions’ satellite offices in Manila (for Caritas Manila, and the Philippine Coast Guard) and Santa Rosa City in Laguna (for Philippine Red Cross).

HRAP signs MOU for building resilience in the Philippine hotel industry

The Hotel and Restaurant Association of the Philippines (HRAP) and a group of graduate students of the Executive Master in Disaster Risk and Crisis Management (EMDRCM) Program of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) signed last September 10 a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to co-create the Disaster Resilience Rating for Hotels – the first of its kind in the world.

The DRRH, anchored on the Resilience Programming Framework (RPF) of startup social enterprise Resilient.PH, hopes to evaluate the existing hotel policies, programs, tools, trainings, and systems related to the prevention, mitigation, preparation, response and recovery from identified disaster risks.  While there are already existing certifications on disaster preparedness and safety, this is the first ever industry co-developed rating on resilience.

According to HRAP President Eugene Yap this partnership is welcome as it is committed to ensuring that both guest and employees are safe in facing disaster threats particularly “at an opportune time when all stakeholders are being called upon to support government programs in attaining disaster resilience.”

The DRRH Project Team is headed by Randell Kitt Botero.

EMDRCM Program Director Marqueza Cathalina Reyes lauded the partnership citing their goal “for our students to build bridges and linkages so that various stakeholders can come together and make the necessary transformation in society.”

Other members of the project team are Richard Legards, Joel Gabino, Walter Panganiban and Dennis Plaza. The team expects to complete the DRRH by the end of the year and implemented by 2021.
