Maynilad intensifies sewer connection
From January 2019 to August 2020, West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. has connected more than 32,000 additional customers to its sewerage system, which includes households and establishments located along waterways that drain into Manila Bay.
This after Maynilad intensified its campaign to convince more customers to connect to the existing sewer network, in support of the Manila Bay Rehabilitation Program of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
Meanwhile, for the same period, Maynilad provided septic tank cleaning services to some 1.6 million customers from North Caloocan down to Cavite. Around 317,000 cubic meters of septage were collected and treated by the company since the start of 2019.
Maynilad’s septic tank cleaning (or sanitation) services are offered every five to seven years, at no additional cost, to its residential and semi-business customers in unsewered areas. Customers in sewered areas, meanwhile, are encouraged to apply for a sewer connection from Maynilad so their wastewater can be conveyed directly to the company’s sewage treatment plants.
