7-Eleven joins COVID info drive
Philippine Seven Corp.(PSC), the exclusive licensor of 7-Eleven in the Philippines, has partnered with the Department of Health’s (DOH) BIDA Solusyon Campaign to take the fight against COVID-19 to the barangay level.
The company has installed a COVID-19 update poster in each of its 2,951 stores nationwide updated daily showing the number of active cases and the trend in the barangay where the store is located.
The barangay information drive reflects the private sector’s contribution towards the DOH’s transition from a top-down approach towards managing COVID-19, to one that focuses on strengthening the pandemic response at the grassroots.
This augments the Department of Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTS). Through the information drive and other capacity-building initiatives for the LGUs and their respective BHERTs, 7-Eleven, the DOH, and the DILG seek to empower more people with the ability to protect themselves from the virus.
7-Eleven is also launching a Bidang Barangay Contest in more than 50 major cities and municipalities nationwide.

Sharp launches “Stay Home, Stay Sharp”; reaches 90M sales for Plasmacluster
Sharp Philippines Corporation (SPC) recently launched its campaign “Stay Home, Stay Sharp.” It features products that are designed for the new normal setting – and one of its key features is Sharp’s exclusive technology, the Plasmacluster Ion (PCI) Technology. In this time of global health crisis, this is SHARP’s way of keeping our homes free from viruses and bacteria.
Sharp’s revolutionary technology, the Plasmacluster Ion (PCI) Technology has been proven to be effective against suspended airborne viruses and microbes that contaminate our air, leaving it cleaner and healthier.
The Plasmacluster Ions, which are the same type of positive and negative ions present in nature, come in contact with the airborne threats in the air, undergoing chemical reactions on their surfaces to form OH radicals.
Currently, Sharp equips their appliances with Plasmacluster Ion (PCI) Technology to make them suitable for your home’s needs in this new normal. These are the appliances for cleaner and safer air: Refrigerators, Air Conditioner, Air Purifier (with mosquito catcher, with humidifier, with dehumidifier), Ion Generator, and Mite Catcher. The brand is now working to incorporate this technology to their Electric Fan products for the local market.
As of April 2020, Sharp announced that it has reached the 90 million sales mark of products equipped with the Plasmacluster Ion Technology through its collaborations with different global businesses and industries such as hotels, hospitals, health clinics, restaurants, trains, vehicles, offices, banks, schools, training center, and supermarkets to name a few.
NCIP celebrates 23rd year of IPRA
The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) is celebrating the 23rd Year of IPRA this month of October with the theme, “Correcting Historical Injustices for Indigenous Peoples’ Rights and Welfare,” with the 133 Indigenous Peoples (IPs) groups in the country, other government agencies, the local government units, international organizations, development partners, and other stakeholders who have been tirelessly rooting and working for the recognition, promotion, protection and fulfillment of the rights and well-being of our indigenous peoples!
The NCIP is sending a strong statement this year of correcting injustices long suffered by the Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) as the agency pushes further for the recognition of 36 rights of the indigenous peoples from the four (4) bundles of rights enshrined in Republic Act No. 8371, otherwise known as “The Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA) of 1997”, whose protection and fulfilment never gained as much urgency and traction as the past two years under President Rodrigo Duterte and the current NCIP Chairperson, Allen A Capuyan.
To kick-off the month-long celebration, a Virtual Opening Program is scheduled on October 1. Also to be discussed are the challenges that indigenous peoples in the Philippines continue to face.
The celebration will end with the National Indigenous Peoples Thanksgiving Day and IP Month Culmination Program on October 29. Component activities will include launching of three Coffee Table Books on Philippine Indigenous Peoples, “Ulat Katutubo” by the NCIP Chairperson.
