Isuzu achieves 300K-unit sales milestone

Isuzu Philippines Corp. (IPC) announced on September 1  the company has sold a total of 300,133 units within its August selling month, marking the milestone amid the decrease in sales volume since the beginning of the community quarantine in March.

One of the country’s leading manufacturers of motor vehicles, IPC has an accumulated total of 241,389 light commercial vehicles and 58,744 commercial vehicles, since it started its operation in 1996, majority of which are manufactured in their assembly plant in Laguna.

Operating for 23 years, IPC maintains a strong foot hold in the truck segment, making 2020 as their 20th consecutive year as the number 1 truck brand in the country. This achievement can be attributed to the company’s wide range of commercial vehicles that serves as a reliable business solution to its clientele nationwide.

“The company is honored to have achieved this milestone… we vow to continue to provide business solutions and at the same time uphold local manufacturing contributing to the Philippine economy” said IPC president Hajime Koso.

With more than 40 Isuzu dealerships nationwide, IPC also expresses it gratitude to its dealer network, stakeholders and local suppliers.

In line with the celebration of its 300,000-unit sales milestone, IPC is set to announce special promotions as a treat to its new clients and loyal customers alike. On top of that, the company is also giving back through its scheduled donation of P300,000 worth of PPEs to different quarantine facilities in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao regions, living it up to its tag line “Your Responsible Partner”. These promotion and donation activities will begin from the last week of September till the end of October.

AboitizPower remits P508M to LGUs

Aboitiz Power Corp.’s fund remittances to its host communities have reached P508.2 million to date, highlighting the organization’s commitment to supporting its stakeholders and helping the country recover from the impact of COVID-19.

Through the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Energy Regulations 1-94 (ER 1-94) program, AboitizPower and its partners have directly downloaded P148.2 million to 174 host beneficiaries across the country, with around P34 million still awaiting turnover.

Another P359.97 million from various AboitizPower-led generation companies, accumulated as of 2019, has  been remitted by the DOE to the host beneficiaries.

The ER 1-94 Program is a policy under the DOE Act of 1992 and the Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001  which stipulates that host communities will get a share of one centavo for every kilowatt-hour generated by power plants operating in its area.

The fund can be used by host beneficiaries for the electrification of areas or households that have no access to power, development and livelihood programs, as well as reforestation, watershed management, health, and environmental enhancement initiatives.

AboitizPower subsidiaries Therma South Inc. and Hedcor were the latest to remit to their host communities, with about P26 million already downloaded to Davao City alone. Around P36 million has also been remitted by TSI and DOE to other various local governments in the Davao region.

These financial benefits have funded several projects across AboitizPower’s host communities, including COVID-19 initiatives in some cities and municipalities, which AboitizPower and its partner local government units work closely on to identify and implement.

PayMaya, PLDT Enterprise empower Batangas coops

The Cooperative Union of Batangas (CUB) has tapped PayMaya, in cooperation with PLDT Enterprise, to provide a safer and more seamless way to disburse salaries, loans and dividends to its cooperative members.

Through the partnership supported by PLDT Enterprise, the cooperative is utilizing the PayMaya PayOut solution to conveniently disburse in real-time loans and dividends to its members as well as salaries to its employees through their PayMaya accounts.

They can also use the PayMaya platform to process the transfer request of their members to move funds from their savings accounts and their PayMaya accounts, which will allow them to perform other financial transactions such as paying for goods online and in store, paying bills, buying load, and sending money, among others.

The effort of partnership is not limited to CUB, but it can go as far as Sothern Tagalog Union of Cooperative (STUC) with membership coming from the Region -IV-A (CALABARZON) & Region-IV-B (MIMAROPA).

CUB is the biggest cooperative association in Batangas with 300 members from various cooperatives.

Singlife, GCash offer no-fuss protection to Filipinos

Mobile-first life insurer Singlife Philippines officially launched its partnership with the country’s leading mobile wallet GCash, showcasing an innovative customer experience that will be available on the GCash app.

Singlife identified several hurdles that prevent people from getting insured: limited access, complex products, and high premiums.

To address these concerns, Singlife uses digital technology to redesign its products and offer fuss-free protection. “What makes Singlife’s products different is that they are designed to be meaningful: offering basic protection that is easy to purchase, easy to manage, and easy to maintain…Singlife empowers you to be in control,” said Singlife Philippines president and chief executive officer Rien Hermans.

Expanding its presence from Singapore to the Philippines, Singlife has partnered with GCash as it offers simple and flexible products at affordable prices, with a similar goal of unlocking the potential of money for all Filipinos. “This partnership comes at a crucial time when health and financial security are a priority. Leveraging Singlife’s technology and offerings, we have an opportunity to provide more Filipinos with meaningful life insurance products that can effectively protect them and secure their financial well-being,” said GCash president and CEO Martha Sazon.

Singlife and GCash will also launch their first product: Cash for Dengue Costs, a comprehensive yet affordable protection product that provides a multi-level benefit against medical costs due to mild to severe cases of Dengue — a first of its kind in the market. This product is very flexible with customizable coverage levels, payment terms, and the option to cover an individual or the whole family. As an introductory offer, Singlife will extend the cover by adding a free COVID-19 rider — providing customers protection from both the ongoing pandemic and seasonal worries.

Airspeed’s SpeedFood to help food businesses stay float

Logistics firm Airspeed has introduced SpeedFood, a new backend online delivery platform designed to help food merchants shift to delivery-based enterprise.

Airspeed has invested in logistics technology to able to offer their roster of merchant-focused services. Through SpeedFood, merchants can manage their delivery bookings and statuses. Customers located within an 8- kilometer radius of SpeedFood clients who order food via text, call or online can readily be served by dedicated SpeedFood riders.

Apart from delivery, SpeedFood also offers payment gateway options; creation of a website with an online ordering capability connected to an online payment gateway and delivery; and, other combinations of services that food businesses may require. SpeedFood offers a platform that will help food merchants scale up. By using these for customers’ orders, SpeedFood is able to forego charging delivery commission, and food merchants only get to pay for the SpeedFood delivery fee. For deliveries, aside from the usual payment gateways of the tenants, SpeedFood also accepts Cash on Delivery.

To date, SpeedFood has more than 50 partner restaurants situated in 12 different locations. Airspeed is geared to expand the SpeedFood service to the areas of Davao, Cebu and Clark.

Aside from SpeedFood, Airspeed also offes SpeedGrocer for groceries, SpeedGoods for non-food retailers.

ShopeePay for easier, more convenient way to pay bills 

Shopee offers an easier and more convenient way to pay water and cable bills via its mobile wallet, ShopeePay. Shopee users can now easily pay for their Maynilad, Manila Water, Cignal, SkyCable bills, and more with just a few taps on their smartphones. Shopee is now providing users an option to skip the long lines at billing centers and pay their bills using the Shopee app.

On September 9, ShopeePay users can enjoy all-day discounts and flash vouchers of up to 25 percent off. They can also look forward to a coins cashback amounting to  P250 for new ShopeePay users and P150 for current users if they pay their bills through ShopeePay.

Insular Life appointment

Insular Life (InLife) announced the appointment Rosalyn Limsiaco Martinez as chief marketing officer (CMO) with the rank of senior vice president.

As InLife’s CMO, Martinez will direct marketing operations and implement the company’s growth agenda in all its distribution channels including InLife’s bancassurance business.

She brings with her a wealth of experience and expertise on product development, branding, marketing communication, e-commerce, digital marketing, market research and insighting.

Martinez has close to 30 years of solid work experience in sales and marketing gained from multinational and domestic financial services companies where she handled portfolios covering investments, deposits, liabilities, credit cards, consumer loans and insurance.

Martinez is a Magna Cum Laude BS Economics graduate of the University of the Philippines and a full Citibank scholar for Master in Business Management at the Asian Institute of Management.

Malayan offers protection to SMEs

Malayan Insurance Co. Inc. stressed the importance of insurance protection especially for small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) against the destruction of tropical cyclones and other natural catastrophes.

To lower the risks for SMEs, Malayan Insurance re-designed its Business Protect insurance to address losses from typhoons, floods, fire, lightning, earthquake, explosions, volcanic eruption, among others.

Considering the added pressure brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and community quarantine, Malayan Insurance provided Business Protect policies to SMEs at more affordable premiums as the country braces for the typhoon season, and the economy chokes from the pandemic.

For a premium of P1,000 annually or P2.75 per day, entrepreneurs can also secure their businesses against robbery and burglary.

As a standard feature, four employees would also be covered on personal accident insurance, protecting them against accidents 24/7.

The policy also provides a comprehensive general liability (CGL), which covers third party claims as a result of property damage or bodily injury arising from the operations of the business.

Malayan Insurance Co., Inc. (MICO) is a member of the Yuchengco Group of Companies (YGC). Recently, AM Best, the world’s rating authority for insurance, assigned a B++ (Good) rating for financial strength to the insurer.
