Ginebra San Miguel unites thousands for freedom, frontliners
and the Filipino Spirit
Ginebra San Miguel, never one to give up when faced with any challenge, presented Ginumanfest in a first-ever online live concert. With restrictions prohibiting large public activities, this year’s Ginumanfest online concert was able to continue championing the best OPM talent which it has been doing since 2011.
On June 20, Ginumanfest was headlined by popular bands Banda Ni Kleggy, Silent Sanctuary and December Avenue. The heritage brand urged all Filipinos to digitally get together via Ginebra San Miguel’s Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/BarangayGinebra/) as ONE GINEBRA NATION to support and salute our frontliners, our freedom to enjoy life, and the never-say-die Filipino spirit. It was indeed a well-timed concert.
Held just eight days after Independence Day, and riding on the high of celebrating the Filipino freedom, the event also ushered in a month-long celebration of World Gin Month kicked off by World Gin Day last June 13.
The message of unity and togetherness of Ginebra San Miguel’s “One Ginebra Nation” campaign could not be more timely as its iconic label of St. Micahel the Archangel by National Artist Fernando Amorsolo, carried for over 100 years by the Kwatro Kantos and Bilog bottles has been reimaged into a new label artwork honoring the brave doctors, nurses, security guards, factory workers, delivery and grocery personnel. These artworks were posted on Ginebra San Miguel’s Facebook Page and netizens were inspired to react and share.
Responding to the clamor to use the label in actual bottles, limited edition Kwatro Kantos bottles were released sporting the commemorative label featuring healthcare workers.
As the event carried on and before festivities came to a close, guests and viewers gathered in a virtual toast as heroes celebrating heroes and gave thanks to everyone who made the unforgettable night possible.
The concert reached over 3 million people with more than 335,000 views that night.
Outreach and digital education
Many businesses in this time of pandemic have put in time, effort and resources to reach out to Filipinos who are most in need. Digital automation firm Red Circle Global (RCG) through its various charitable initiatives has fed more than 100,000 people through 20,000 carepacks in the last two months – mostly distributed in Metro Manila, Biliran and Rizal Province in partnership with various NGOs.
RCG also initiated a program to empower schools to be automated for free until its 6th month of service. This “Pay When Happy” program of RCG is new and unprecedented in the education technology industry, which empowers smaller schools to directly compete with bigger schools in terms of school automation and online classes.
“I was inspired by Mr. Ramon S Ang’s gesture of goodwill,” says RCG CEO and President Edwardo Miguel Roldan. “Sure, there are a lot of billionaires out there in the PH who are also assisting but RSA’s way of assisting is different from the quantity up to the quality. I think that is the purpose of businesses. It is to transform our enterprise in a snap from a money-making machine to a social enterprise that is solely focused on assisting people in times of pandemic like this.”
One of his memorable moments during this time was having the chance to assist Jala-Jala, Rizal’s poorest barangay, where he observed how discipline the people were.
RCG chooses to help even while experiencing theft during this season. Edwardo says to especially be careful with people-management and inventories now as this pandemic does not stop greedy people from taking more than what they should have.
