PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday announced he has approved a salary increase and provision of medical allowances to employees of government-owned or controlled corporations (GOCCs).

The approved benefits are  “well deserved” for the services that the employees render to the public, the president said.

“In support of the hardworking men and women who make this possible, I have approved the Compensation and Position Classification System II that would increase the salaries of GOCC employees. I have also approved the provision of a tiered medical allowance for GOCC employees depending on the capacity of the GOCCs,” the president said during the GOCC Day held in Malacañang.

Marcos said that for corporations that have already implemented the earlier Compensation and Position Classification System (CPCS) 1, the adjustments will apply retroactively to January 1 of this year.

Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said an executive order would soon be issued, specifying the computations of the salary hike.

The provision of the medical allowance, meanwhile, will depend on the capacity of the GOCCs, she said.

The president said the increase in the salaries of employees is a reflection of the government’s commitment to fostering a more capable and motivated public sector workforce that can further deliver on the Bagong Pilipinas vision.
