MANILA Water Co. Inc. said the mainline extension project at Sitio Tanza and Tolosa Ville in Rizal is projected to expand its 24-hour supply service.
The company said in a statement yesterday the project will directly result in 24-hour water service to additional 4,000 households or 24,000 residents as well as 1,405 new domestic service connections. This will gradually increase as further system improvements are put in place in Antipolo City.
The project will be completed before the end of the year.
Manila Water added the service expansion project involves the installation of a 280-millimeter (mm) high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe spanning 2.73 kilometers (km), as well as a 100-mm HDPE pipe stretching 2.99 km that will all be interconnected to the 1600-mm steel pipe along Marcos Highway in Antipolo.
The water distribution utility said the mainline extension project will provide residents of Sitio Tanza and Tolosa Ville with continuous access to potable water, marking a 6.5 percent improvement in service coverage in barangay San Jose in Antipolo City.
“Manila Water believes water is vital not just for health but also for the economic growth of a community. As the East Zone water concessionaire, we find ways to make water accessible to the communities we serve to enable progress. That is why our company has been rolling out service expansion projects, especially in far-flung areas in Rizal,” said Jeric Sevilla, Manila Water corporate communication affairs group director, in the statement.
The initiative is part of Manila Water’s service improvement plan for until 2027 which focuses on extending water services to underserved communities within the East Zone concession.
