Malaysian firms eye investments in PH

Malaysia is eyeing the growing fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), construction and building materials as well as information communication technology and logistics services markets of the Philippines.

The Malaysia External Trade Development Corp. said 38 Malaysian companies are holding a business mission to Davao on November 18 to 20.

Malaysia Trade Commissioner based in Manila, Siti Azlina said the mission has identified the five areas for potential businesses – food and beverage, personal and health care products, construction and building materials, ICT and logistics.

The Malaysia-Philippines Business Forum will cap the event at the Marco Polo Hotel on November 20.

Malaysia’s exports to the Philippines from January to June grew 8 percent or $2.17 billion dollars compared with the same period last year. Malaysia’s top exports are electrical and electronic products, palm oil and palm oil-based products and petroleum distillates
