The Land Transportation Office (LTO) said it is on track toward meeting its P34-billion revenue collection target for 2025 as driven by its “aggressive policy reforms.”

From January to August, the agency collected more than P22.5 billion in revenue, in line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ensure efficiency in government operations.

In a statement issued on Sunday, LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza said the revenue collection is due to “the aggressive implementation of policy reforms, especially on motor vehicle registration and strict implementation of road safety regulations.”

“With the rate of our monthly revenue collection, we are on the right track [toward] achieving our P34 billion collection target for this year,” Mendoza added.

Last year, Mendoza raised the revenue collection target after rolling out the policy reforms aimed at improving the agency’s services and maximizing revenue collection goals.

Revenues remitted to the National Treasury, he said, help fund programs including those that would benefit the poor. He stressed the importance of improving the collection as the money being turned over to the National Treasury is being used for various programs and projects, including those that would benefit the poor.

Mendoza also credited agency personnel. “We owe this achievement to our hardworking frontliners, and I express my gratitude for their service to the LTO and the Filipino people,” he said.

Since assuming office, Mendoza has addressed contractualization in the agency by moving long-time job-order workers into plantilla positions.

He said this initiative aims to reward dedication and boost staff morale and welfare.

Mendoza urged LTO employees to “sustain the hard work” to ensure the agency meets its 2025 target.
