Hapag Movement bring meals to Basilan
Globe’s Hapag Movement and the Ayala Foundation, with the help of local community organizations, brought meals to students in 21 Basilan schools Dec. 1, 2023 to Jan. 10, 2024.
The Hapag Movement and its implementing partner Ayala Foundation recently brought supplemental feeding to 4,500 students in 21 schools across four municipalities in Basilan.
Last month, the Hapag Movement’s supplemental feeding reached remote communities, indigenous peoples and families of former combatants with the help of alumni from Ayala Foundation’s Basilan Leaders Program—Leadership Communities (BYLP—LeadCom) program. This effort supported 2,500 beneficiaries.
Support also extended to livelihood, with the Hapag Movement providing seeds and fertilizers to farmers in Lantawan town and Lamitan City with the help of LeadCom alumna Nurhati Tangging.
The project has also reached families of former combatants who have returned to the fold and is reintegrating with the community— a critical component in achieving lasting peace in the conflict-stricken province.
One notable project was led by community leaders Adzhar Baluan and Saddam Pacio, and teacher Nur-aisa Anilon, all of whom are also BYLP—LeadCom alumni, who organized a feeding program for nearly 1,000 students in December 2023.

FEU High School inks sustainable partnerships
FEU High School (FEU HS) inked its partnership between its Community Engagement and Extension Services (CEES) and its collaborating communities: World Wide Fund for Nature Philippines (WWF-Philippines), Gawad Kalinga Paradise Heights, Barangay 128, Bridge Builder Foundation Norway Inc., and Apolinario Mabini Elementary School last January 25.
The memorandum of understanding unites all partner communities for joint research, lectures, seminars, workshops, and other initiatives and programs facilitated by the CEES.
This partnership aims to not only provide students with out-of-school practical experiences but also offer beneficiary communities livelihood skills, increase access to education and resources, engage in environmental stewardship, and improve community well-being.
“Our aspiration is for students to acquire knowledge outside the confines of the classroom, gain awareness of real-world issues, and learn from the experiences of the older generation so they can fortify solutions to societal problems and discover how to contribute to society in their unique ways. I express my gratitude to all our collaborative partner communities as we share one goal to help both people and the environment towards sustainability,” said FEU High School CEES chairperson Renan Agad.
