Ceiling price, availability of transmission lines and a longer deadline have to be resolved in the next round of the Green Energy Auction (GEA), according to the Department of Energy (DOE).
Rowena Guevara, DOE undersecretary, said in a message to reporters these issues were identified during a roundtable meeting with developers last week and will be considered for the third and fourth rounds of GEA.
“GEA-3 is this November and will involve geothermal, run-of-river and pumped storage hydro. We are not yet done discussing it with the private sector as we don’t want to put targets that will not be met,” Guevara added.
Prior to Guevara’s announcement, the Energy Regulatory Commission said it was considering if further differentiations in setting the Green Energy Auction Reserve (GEAR) prices to include projects size other than technology.
