President Duterte has urged the public and private sectors to invest more in “safer and responsive infrastructures” to support the country’s economy and development.

At the inauguration of the new Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Head Office Building last Monday in Barangay Ugong, Pasig City, Duterte expressed hope that the establishment of MMDA’s new office complex will not just help ensure that the needs of the people are addressed, but also “motivate other government offices and institutions to invest in similar undertakings.”

“Whether in the public or private sector, I strongly urge you to invest in safer and responsive infrastructure. I urge all of us to invest in our people and country,” he added.

One of the centerpiece programs of the Duterte administration is the “Build, Build, Build” infrastructure program.

Public Works Undersecretary Emil Sadain previously said only 18 of the 119 flagship projects under the program had been completed, such as the Sangley Point International Airport and the airports in Clark and General Santos. – Jocelyn Montemayor
