Swiss retailer IKEA is on track to open in the Philippines by the third quarter at the earliest starting off with an electronic commerce platform.
One of its first local partners ahead of the opening of IKEA Pasay City store is social entrepreneur Rags2Riches .
As the official sewing service partner, Rags2Riches will turn fabrics purchased by customers in the store into customized products such as curtains, cushions, tote bags, aprons among others.
Reese Ruiz, president of Rags2Riches, said the partnership will initially tap 20 sewer-partners, including five in a station inside the store.
“Our partnership with Rags2Riches has always been more about than just sealing a deal, we are growing together towards a common goal of making everyday life better for the many,” added Georg Platzer, Market Development Manager for IKEA Philippines.
