Online job portal Jobstreet has seen an exponential increase of Filipinos applying for work following the pandemic.
Hirers meanwhile are optimistic of the employment prospects over the next six months.
Philip Gioca, country manager of Jobstreet Philippines, in a press briefing launching the revamp of its platform said the number of applicants per ad or posting on its portal surged to 300 to 400 or more than five times the 50 applicants before the pandemic.
The increase was due to the rise in unemployment and the shift to digital the hiring of workers due to the pandemic.
Gioca said Jobstreet has noted hirers have broadened their options, and are willing to accept part-timers, fresh graduates, high school graduates and applicants with no experience.
He said hirers have also been offering part-time and freelance jobs and work-from-home positions.
According to Gioca, a survey among companies across industries reflect the very positive outlook in the job market.
Saying “the pandemic will go away,” hirers believe positions will increase in the next six months, Gioca said.
The hottest jobs in the portal are in education, administrative support, security, information technology, healthcare, finance, general work, IT computer networking and sales.
According to Gioca, the number of positions in Jobstreet has grown in the last three months following an over 50 percent slump at the start of the pandemic.
Prior to COVID, Jobstreet had 100,000 jobs each day.
It now has 27,000 hirers and is curating an average of 44,000 jobs per month, which is about 12,000 to 15,000 more prior to the pandemic.
Jobstreet’s brand revolution introduces new functions in the mobile app to make it more intuitive and accessible to both applicants and hirers.
