The Philippines targets to increase its exports to Spain, particularly electronic equipment, fish products (tuna), fruits (bananas and pineapples), crude coconut oil and static converters.
This was expressed by Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual during a meeting with Spanish Minister of Economy, Trade and Business Carlos Cuerpo Caballero in Abu Dhabi on February 25.
This was held on the sidelines on the sidelines of the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) 13th Ministerial Conference.
Pascual noted the two nations’ bilateral trade has shown consistent growth over the last ten years, recording a total of $1.2 billion in 2022.
In pursuit of a level playing field for global trade that could benefit the Philippine businesses, Pascual highlighted in their bilateral meeting the significant role of Spain as the Philippines’ major trade and investment partner in the European Union and the Europe region.
