A delegation from Hawaii is exploring opportunities in trade, agriculture, and tourism with counterparts in the Philippines.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. welcomed members of Honolulu City Council delegation and the 31st Trade Mission of the Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii (FCCH) and Hawaii Philippines Business Economic Council (HPBEC) in Malacanang yesterday where he stressed the country continues to improve efforts to make investments processes easier, more transparent and more accountable.
Marcos said there is a great deal of potential between a Philippine-Hawaii trade as there are so many similarities and “similar” needs between the state of Hawaii and the Philippines or specific areas of the Philippines.
Marcos said Hawaii holds a special place in his heart, recalling how his family was welcomed and supported by the people of Hawaii during their time of exile from 1986 to 1991.
The mission from February 13 to 24 also included visits to Candon and Vigan in Ilocos Sur; San Pedro, Laguna; Angeles City, Pampanga; Manila and; Sorsogon.
FCCH, said to be the oldest Filipino business chamber in the United States, having been founded in 1954, is composed of entrepreneurs, business owners, professionals, and Filipino-American community leaders in the state of Hawaii while the HPBEC was primarily organized for charitable and educational purposes.
