The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has released P1.5 billion in emergency loans to more than 44,000 members and pensioners affected by recent typhoons Crising, Dante and Emong, the agency said on Thursday.
GSIS Officer in Charge Juliet Bautista said the emergency loan facility was designed to provide immediate financial relief to public sector workers and retirees in areas under a state of calamity.
“As soon as the loan window opened, thousands of our members and pensioners turned to GSIS for help,” Bautista said. “This reflects how deeply the recent calamities have affected their lives and how urgently they need support.”
The loan offers a one-time borrowing of up to P40,000 for active GSIS members and P20,000 for pensioners.
