Ride hailing firm Grab Philippines yesterday signed a deal with the local government of Valenzuela for the first smart city project in Metro Manila.

Grab and the city government of Valenzuela will also work collaboratively in building a hyper-localized mapping system of Valenzuela City, thus enabling accuracy and efficiency on bookings and parcel deliveries made via the Grab platform.

In the coming days, the city government will be launching a new digital governance through the 3S Plus online services, which highlights its “Paspas Permit,” the 10-second online business permit system.

Through Grab’s on-demand courier service, Grab express business permit applicants can now process their documents without going through the long lines in the city hall.

“As we embark on this promising new enterprise with the City Government of Valenzuela, we are excited and honored to be their equitable and reliable partner to help build Metro Manila’s first smart city,” Brian Cu, Grab Philippines president, said.

Paspas Permit system enables applicants of business permit in Valenzuela to receive their provisionary permits to start their business in 10 seconds upon confirmation of payment.

The actual business plates shall be delivered by Grab Express to their doorsteps.

Meanwhile, Grab has been offering new set of services including Bus Marketplace, Grab express Nationwide Delivery, GrabSalon, GrabGifts, Videos and Hotels, which will progressively be available to all users by the end of 2019.

Grab said it is ramping up its Grab express service to include nationwide delivery to better address the needs of small and medium enterprises as well as online sellers, through its partnership with Ninja Van, whose network covers 95 percent of the Philippine population with over 9,000 riders.
