President Marcos Jr. said the government is set to institutionalize a strategic roadmap that would further improve the business environment for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) while expanding their market access and improving the skills of their workers.
The President, at the 2024 Presidential Awards for Outstanding MSMEs and Presidential Recognition for Outstanding Development Partners held in Malacanang yesterday, also recognized the contribution of MSMEs to the economy. The awards marks its return after 15 years.
Marcos the MSME Development Plan 2023-2028 will be institutionalized through an executive order. The plan is being finalized by the Department of Trade and Industry in coordination with the MSME Development Council and the Office of the President.
He said the roadmap would set the specific roles and outline the procedures and activities for all involved agencies.

Marcos led the conferring of Presidential Awards for Outstanding MSMEs which celebrate exceptional MSMEs for their excellence, innovation and sustainability as well as their vital role in the economy.
He also awarded the Presidential Recognition for Outstanding Development Partners that honored individuals or institutions for their impactful programs that enhance business climate and support MSME growth.
Kawayan Collective Agriculture Cooperative and Malagos Agri-Ventures Corp. received the outstanding MSMEs award.
The outstanding development partners award were presented to the City Government of Biñan for its barangay micro business enterprises incentives that have stimulated business activity, and Capiz State University for its CAPSULE Technology Business Incubator which facilitates technology transfer and prototype commercialization support to MSMEs, among others.
