The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), in partnership with the Department of Transportation (DOTr), has launched two major infrastructure projects for the development of Iloilo International Airport.
In a statement on Tuesday, CAAP said the project has a combined cost of more than P190 million, and will involve the upgrade of the Passenger Terminal Building (PTB), including improvements to facilities such as comfort rooms, air conditioning, escalators, signage, fire detection systems and boarding bridges.
The second project involves installing three 600-kilowatt chillers to enhance terminal temperature control.
Once completed, the PTB’s capacity will increase to 1,082 total passengers from 727, CAAP said. Additional infrastructure projects are planned for 2025, including further PTB rehabilitation and runway asphalt overlay.
CAAP Director General Raul del Rosario reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to safe and efficient airports.
“CAAP and DOTr remain fully committed to enhancing the travel experience of every passenger by ensuring that our airports are safe, efficient, and passenger-friendly,” del Rosario said.
In addition to these ongoing developments, CAAP and DOTr have identified several major infrastructure projects scheduled for implementation in 2025. These include the rehabilitation of the Passenger Terminal Building, asphalt overlay of the existing runway and procurement of runway asphalt overlay works.
