The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has launched the E-Commerce Philippine Trustmark to ensure the safety and reliability of online transactions.
DTI Secretary Cristina Roque said on Monday the digital certification or badge will give Filipino consumers more confidence when transacting online.
“Trust is essential in the digital marketplace,” she said, adding that the trust symbol will also encourage businesses to “follow established standards and uphold responsible online practices.”
The DTI launched the digital trustmark on July 1, opening its digital portal.
The E-Commerce Philippine Trustmark is issued to online businesses that comply with fair e-commerce practices, consumer protection rules and applicable standards pursuant to Republic Act No. 11967, or the Internet Transactions Act of 2023.
The trustmark should be displayed prominently on websites, seller profiles, or product pages. For those with physical stores, the trustmark should be the first thing consumers will see at the registered place of business, said the DTI.
The DTI has started to accept online applications for the digital badge.
Businesses have been advised to complete the online application form at trustmark.dti.gov.ph and submit the necessary supporting documents including, but not limited to, registration certificates from the DTI, the Securities and Exchange Commission or the Cooperative Development Authority and Bureau of Internal Revenue Certificate of Registration.
