Globe Telecom Inc. has rolled out four new towers and expanded 111 cell site towers in Zamboanga City to support the local agriculture and tourism industries through reliable connectivity.

With improved mobile and internet services, farmers can access agri-tech solutions to optimize their operations, while tourists can share their experiences in real-time, boosting the city’s appeal as a travel destination, the company said.

“Our investment in Zamboanga City reflects our commitment to empowering communities through technology. By enhancing connectivity, we aim to drive economic growth, support local industries, and improve the quality of life for residents. We believe that digital transformation is key to unlocking the full potential of Zamboanga City and fostering a sustainable future,” Joel Agustin, head of service planning and engineering at Globe, said in a statement over the weekend.

Globe said network upgrades also contribute to disaster preparedness initiatives led by the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council-9. Enhanced telecom infrastructure ensures continuous communication during emergencies, crucial for crisis management and public safety.

Early this month, Globe also built the new tower and upgraded 15 sites across Bukidnon to enhance mobile connectivity.

The site upgrades were implemented with three each in Libona, Manolo Fortich and Quezon; two each in Malaybalay City and Valencia City; and one each in Lantapan, San Fernando and Maramag.

These developments reinforce Bukidnon’s position as a major player in the agri-fishery and tourism sectors, the company said.

With faster and more reliable internet, local businesses can leverage digital technologies to optimize operations and expand market reach as well as offer enhanced services to tourists, it added.
