Eight German companies are in Manila to explore business opportunities in renewable en-ergy (RE) and smart grid solutions for sustainable energy infrastructure, the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI) said on Tuesday.
GPCCI, which is hosting a week-long business mission from June 23 to June 26 in Makati City, said the conference on June 24 encouraged more collaboration in the field of RE, smart-grid, and storage solutions between the two countries. About 70 stakeholders, in-cluding industry leaders, regulatory experts, and public sector representatives participated in the event, the chamber said.
“We see tremendous potential for German companies to contribute to the Philippine energy sector, particularly in renewable energy and smart grid solutions,” GPCCI President Marie Antoniette Mariano said.
“This mission reflects Germany’s commitment to building lasting partnerships in sectors with real impact,” she added.
GPCCI Vice President Tristan Arwen Loveres said as the Philippines diversifies its energy mix, German companies have the opportunity to contribute through advanced technology, engineering expertise, and collaborative ventures to unlock the full potential of the local en-ergy sector.
Energy Undersecretary Rowena Guevara said the country’s energy transition drive will not only build sustainable energy infrastructure for future generations, but will also create a highly skilled workforce.
The German companies that came here are mostly small and medium enterprises engaged in smart grid and energy solutions.
GPCCI has identified the participating German companies as: BAE Batterien, a manufac-turer of stationary batteries used primarily for uninterruptible emergency power supply in data centers, power facilities, telecommunication infrastructure, and renewable energy projects; Blueberry Energy, an innovation-driven solar PV project developer offering solar-as-a-service solutions and utility-scale solar and battery storage projects; and Fichtner GmbH, a leading independent engineering and consultancy firm specializing in energy, en-vironment, water, and infrastructure.
The other German firms are: H2 Core Systems, which designs modular, scalable electroly-sis systems for sustainable energy applications also participated in the business mission; Reprocon GmbH, an export in offshore wind; SkySails Power, which develops airborne wind energy systems; and SMA Altenso GmbH, known for its cutting-edge energy solutions in PV-hybrid, off-grid, battery, and power-to-gas systems.
The business mission is organized by GPCCI in partnership with the Renewables Academy AG. It is part of the Energy Solutions-Made in Germany, which is supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
