Malacañang has received more than 1,000 complaints about flood control projects in the country since President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. launched a website for the purpose three days earlier, the Palace press officer (PPO) said on Thursday.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. launched his “sumbongsapangulo.ph” website on August 11, detailing at least 9,000 flood control projects nationwide.

PPO Claire Castro did not provide specific details on the reports but noted they had reached 1,148 as of August 13. She added that the website has also garnered 84,892 total views and 823 feedbacks.

The President, in launching the website on Monday, said 9,855 flood control projects worth some P545.64 billion were constructed from July 2022 to May 2025.

Of these projects, about 61 percent (6,021) “do not specify the exact type of flood control structures built, repaired, or rehabilitated.”

Marcos also highlighted several projects that have “exactly the same contract cost, which could mean the same design, materials and lengths were used despite differences in location or terrain.”

Another “disturbing” finding, he said, was that roughly 20 percent of the total projects, worth around P100 billion, were awarded to just 15 contractors, with five of them having projects in nearly every region nationwide.

On Wednesday, the president inspected some flood control projects in Jaro, Iloilo. In a social media post that night, he reiterated his order for the DPWH to hold accountable and blacklist contractors of failed and unfinished projects.

He also urged the public to report any information through the sumbongsapangulo.ph site.

Meanwhile, Castro rejected a proposal from Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong for the president to name a lead investigator. She advised the mayor to instead report any information he has received directly to the president.

Castro noted that a mechanism is already in place to oversee the probe, referring to the Regional Project Monitoring Committees leading the investigation.

She also said Magalong should inform the president about the 67 congressmen he earlier accused of pocketing kickbacks of 30 to 40 percent from flood control and infrastructure project funds, and provide evidence so charges could be filed.
