EIGHT of the biggest companies at the government-owned Cavite economic zone are expected to resume operations as soon as possible after a zone-wide lockdown starting March 19.
Charito Plaza, director-general of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), identified these companies as House Technology Industries Inc., American Power Conversion, SCAD Services Pte. Ltd., PV Tech Pte. Ltd., San Technology Inc.,
Glory Philippines Inc., Wu Kong Singapore Pte. Ltd., Astec Power Philippines Inc.
Collectively, the eight exported $2.5 billion worth of products last year.
“All others will follow as long as they comply with PEZA conditions on quarantine measures,” Plaza said in a text message.
Plaza has issued Memorandum Circular 2020-017 on March 22, 2020 containing an advisory to Cavite ecozone locators to advance the implementation of quarantine measures like disinfecting, social distancing, health monitoring, provision of housing and or shuttle service, adoption of work modes like work-from-home and skeleton staff to make zones safe for workers.
These measures, Plaza said, will avoid a repeat of the lockdown of local government units that would result to another shutdown.
