The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has further extended the deadline on the availment of tax amnesty on delinquencies to yearend while the Social Security System (SSS) also moved the deadline for contribution payments by another 15 days, to June 30, 2020.

Both agencies took into consideration ongoing circumstances due to the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.

According to BIR revenue memorandum circular no. 61-2020 posted on the BIR website yesterday, the deadline to avail of the amnesty is extended to December 31, 2020, from the already earlier revised deadline of June 22.

The availment period for the tax amnesty on delinquencies started on April 24, 2019.
SSS meanwhile said in a statement yesterday the extension of payment of contributions covers the applicable months of February, March and April 2020 for private employees.

It also covers contribution payments of household employers and self-employed/voluntary/non-working spouse members for the first quarter of the year.

The extension will give members and employers more time to pay contributions since restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic have only been eased recently.
