Engineering a better future for Filipinos

Engr. Danilo Tamayo founded his construction firm, DDT Konstract Inc. (DDTKI), over 20 years ago, after losing his job during the challenging times of the Asian financial crisis. His entrepreneurial drive expanded to the DDT Group of Companies today, encompassing businesses not only in construction but also in real estate and aquaculture.

Driven by gratitude for the help and opportunities he received, he established the Andres P. Tamayo Sr. Foundation Inc. (APTSFI), the non-profit arm of the DDT Group, named after his father, his inspiration for hard work, diligence, and determination.

In addition to initiatives supporting children’s health and community disaster relief, the foundation primarily focuses on education through scholarships for deserving but marginalized Filipino students.

One such beneficiary is twenty-nine-year-old Paul Angelo Pascual from Camalaniugan, Cagayan Valley, identified as a deserving scholar due to his outstanding performance as the valedictorian of his class at Camalaniugan National High School.

With financial support from the foundation, Pascual earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering at Cagayan State University and eventually secured a job at Philip Morris Incorporated as Process Lead. However, the assistance provided by APTSFI transcends material or financial aid.

While APTSFI primarily operates in Aparri, Cagayan; Napsan, Puerto Princesa; and Lajala, Coron, it has extended its reach to Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. To date, it has produced 645 college graduates, predominantly in engineering, many of whom found employment within the DDT Group. Notable alumni include medical doctors and technical-vocational graduates.

APTSFI’s impact extends to nearly 15,000 children through feeding programs, school supplies donations, and high school educational assistance. The foundation also molds youth through family involvement, offering responsible and effective parenting seminars attended by more than 6,800 parents. During the COVID-19 pandemic, over 2,300 individuals received health services.

APTSFI also positively impacts DDT Group employees. More than 2,700 individuals have participated in the foundation’s regular bloodletting activities, contributing to fellow Filipinos’ welfare. Additionally, over 1,200 workers have attended spiritual formation sessions under the Handog Bendisyon program.

APTSFI embodies a humble man’s dream to pay it forward and contribute to a better nation for Filipinos. It will continue its mission as long as the DDT Group enjoys the trust and support of its valued clients, partners, and customers.
