The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) has signed up with the World Free Zones Organization (WFO) which will help raise the profile of ecozones in the Philippines.
Under a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed on Tuesday by Charito Plaza, PEZA director-general, and Dr Samir Hamrouni, chief executive officer of WFO, PEZA will grant its ecozones access to the group’s services that will enhance its free zones international visibility.
“This will allow national free zones attract new investors and partners; gain knowledge through the training; exchange experiences; and promote the country to the outside world, for the benefit of national economic growth and development,” the MOU said.
WFO is an association of free zones, free zones associations and users of free zones and special economic zones spanning 141 countries. It currently has 800 members.
Under the MOU, PEZA related entities will have access to all the World FZO’s services such as events, training, advisory, certifications, publications, B2B platform and other best-in-class standards programs. – Irma Isip
