The Philippines is tying up with China under the letter’s “Two Countries, Twin Parks” project where both sides will pursue cooperation on industrial parks.
Trade Undersecretary Ceferino Rodolfo said the partnership will benefit locators in economic zones of both countries for their intra- and inter-industry trade and outsourcing activities.
“We see a potential synergy between the two economic zones in China and the Philippines,” Rodolfo said in a message at an online investment matching event.
Rodolfo said aside from promoting complementary markets, the tieup of economic zones of the two countries can help boost tourism, movement of goods, people and services, technology and foreign direct investments.
He offered partnerships with Chinese companies three ecozone developers with big-ticket projects in Saranggani, Pangasinan, and Clark in Pampanga.
Rodolfo also told the forum under the new economic zone model of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority, Chinese investors, together with their Philippine partners, will develop economic zones into “eco-townships or smart cities, complete with embedded renewable energy sources and other utilities, a dedicated port, and a self-sustaining business eco-system to support the growth of industry clusters.”
